Chenango Forks: William Eugene Richards Jr., 84, went to be with his Lord Thursday November 28, 2013 at Wilson Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Gloria; sister-in-law Vicki Finley; and great grandaughter Isabella. He is survived by his children Craig (Diane) Richards, Kevin Richards, Chris Richards, Keith (Marcia) Richards, Karen Blakeslee, Collin (Shelly) Richards, Candace (Robert) Blakeslee, and Daniel Richards; 23 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; sister Dolores (Paul) Schofield; brother-in-law James (Sharon) Finley; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was a graduate of Vestal High School, Veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army and worked in manufacturing management for over 30 years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and lifetime member of VFW Post 478. He enjoyed farming on his family estate where he shared the love of the land and outdoors with his family. He was not afraid to show his love for his family and the many foster children that were welcomed into his home. All because he found the love of his life, his family was able to experience insurmountable love that has been passed down to each generation. Thank you Lord for allowing us to be his children. The family would like to thank the loving staff at NYS Veterans Home in Oxford and staff at Wilson Memorial Hospital ST 3 for caring for our family Patriarch whose legacy will continue to live on. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:00AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1 Lions Lane Greene with President Kermit Kerby officiating. Burial will be in Port Crane Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home 737 Chenango St. Port Dickinson Sunday from 2:00-5:00PM.
