Passed away in Rohnert Park, California at his home on Saturday, January 4, 2014. Alex, 87, was born, reared and educated in Rock Springs, Wyoming. During his senior year in high school, Alex was called to serve in the United States Marine Corps. He served his country for four years. After his honorable discharge from the Marines, Alex came home to Rock Springs where he met and married the love of his life M Yvonne McFadden. He worked for 25 years as an electrician and foreman for OCI Chemical Company. After his retirement in 1988, Alex and Yvonne moved to Northern California to be closer to their son John and his family. While in California he continued his membership in the Elks Lodge. Alex was also a huge sports fan, his favorite teams being the New York Yankees and Notre Dame. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends. He is survived by his son, Dr John F. Unguren of Santa Rosa; three grandchildren, Melissa, Ross, and Allison; sisters-in- law, Alice Jean Christanelli, and Mary Lou Unguren; and several nieces and nephews. Alex was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne, of nearly 60 years in 2012; parents, Mike Unguren and Mary Anselmi Unguren, two brothers, George Unguren and John Unguren; and a sister, Emma Matiba. Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Service, for Alex and Yvonne, Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 4995 Snyder Lane, Rohnert Park, California. 707-789-9000 www.adobecreekfuneralhome.com
