Alvi was born in San Francisco's North Beach to Laura Carpinetti and Romolo Blasi. Graduate of Galileo HS class of '43, joined the US Coast Guard at 17 and was stationed in the Marshall Islands until his discharge in 1946. Alvi had many careers, including running the ABC Market in Daly City, working for the SFPD, the CA Harbor Police then the SFPD as Harbor Police until his retirement in 1984. He was preceded in death by his sister Corinda and best friend Paul. Alvi married Christina in 1979 and they resided in Lake County until relocating to Santa Rosa in 1994. Alvi was passionate about golf, which he played four days a week until about 15 years ago. Second to golf, was his passion for food, spending time in the kitchen creating dishes and sharing them with his family. His creativity was also expressed in his poetry, oil painting, and inventing gadgets to use around the home and garden. He is survived by his loving wife Christina, stepdaughters Patricia (Bruce), Deborah (Howard), and Denise. He was Nonno to Lauren, Reid (Elyssa) and Megan. He is also survived by his dear friend Florence and other family and friends, including the "best neighbors in the world" on Filamina Place.
