Carl died peacefully at the home of his daughter in Healdsburg, CA, just three days short of his 99th birthday. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Helen Marie (Boose) Tischler, his parents, Marie E. (Dreifort) Tischler and Michael J. Tischler and his brother, Joseph Tischler. He is survived by his daughters, Greta L. Tischler of Rochester Hills, MI and Sally L. Tischler (Robert J. Newsome) of Healdsburg, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. Carl was born in Cleveland, Ohio where he lived until 1945 when he was transferred by his company to Pittsburgh, PA. In his youth, Carl was a tap dancer and an accordion player. His professional career spanned 48 years in sales for ITT General Controls. Carl was devoted to his family, his many lifelong friends and his pets. In his years as a Rotarian, he was named a Paul Harris Fellow and was recognized for 51 years of perfect attendance. Carl was a member of the Ingomar United Methodist Church and was active in the church and community throughout his life. Carl brought joy to all who knew him with the twinkle in his eye, his wonderful sense of humor, his generosity, and his enthusiasm for life. He will be sorely missed. The family would like to thank Maria Martinez, Edward Kavere, and Susan Briggs for their loving care of Carl in his last years and Sutter VNA and Hospice for easing his passing. Friends will be received Thursday, May 23, 2 - 4:00 and 7 - 9:00 p.m. at Simons Funeral Home, Inc., 7720 Perry Hwy., Pittsburgh, PA. The memorial service will be held at Ingomar United Methodist CHurch in Ingomar, PA on Friday, May 24th at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal .
