Donald "Buck" Ballwahn, passed away at his Santa Rosa home on August 21, five days before his 84th birthday. A native of Wisconsin, he served in the Army Air Corps and was a resident of Sonoma County since 1949. He owned and operated Buck's Landscape Rock for 24 years and was a well known Country and Western singer and rhythm guitar player whose bands, the West Coast Playboys and Buck's Rhythm Ramblers, played in Petaluma bars and nightclubs from 1949 until the mid 1960s. "My mom's side of the family was all musical, on my dad's side they couldn't play a radio," he once said. Before retiring several years ago, he worked for more than 20 years as a driver for local automobile dealerships. Predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Dorothy, son, Keith, and daughter, Diane, he is survived by four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services were held on September 7.
