Passed away on December 29 at her home in Santa Rosa with her family by her side. She was born on April 6, 1927 in Oakland, California to William Powell Smidt and Florence Cox Smidt. Her sister Jeanne Reiwets preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother William P Smidt, Jr. (Linda). Helen attended school in Oakland and Ursuline High School in Santa Rosa. On June 11, 1951 she married Paul Arambel. Helen was the beloved mother of Paula Marie Cox, and grandmother of James Paul Carrell (Dara); Jason Forsberg Carrell (Wendi); and Tricia Marie Cribbins. She was the aunt to Kathie and Mike Smidt, David Riewerts, Robert (Bo) Riewerts, Mary Stone, and had numerous great grandchildren. Helen was an insurance broker for more than 35 years. She worked for Warren Johnson Insurance, Ellingson and Jones and George Peterson Insurance. Helen was a long term member of the Rotary International of Oakmont. She also volunteered for numerous local organizations including Luther Burbank Gardens. She was vigorous and enjoyed walking around Spring Lake. She had numerous friends who loved her witty and humorous observances of human foibles. She will be greatly missed. At her request no services will be held. A celebration of her life will be held on January 18th at the Villa Los Alamos clubhouse on Los Alamos Road from 1 until 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Sutter Hospice, 1110 N. Dutton or Luther Burbank Home and Gardens, P.O. Box 1678, Santa Rosa.
