Hays was born December 15, 1912 in Fresno, CA and died February 16, 2013 peacefully in his sleep. He married Marjorie E. Goff in 1939 and lived in Manteca/Stockton where he worked 28 years at Stockton Naval Annex as a lineman. He served in the Navy during the Korean War in 1950-1952. He moved in 1987 to Santa Rosa to be near his daughter Marjorie Schultz and family. His favorite pastime was fly fishing in the mountains where he helped his parents build a cabin on Echo Summit. He also loved playing bridge which was taught to him at a young age by his mother. He recently celebrated his 100th birthday and attended a New Year's celebration with his friends at Oakmont Gardens where he surprised everyone by dancing. He was honored with a ceremony for his 75 years involvement with Masonry by the Grand Lodge of California. His wife Marjorie passed in 2004. He is survived by his daughter Marjorie and Bob Schultz, grandchildren Kristine and Jeff Holtzer, Alex and Lisa Schultz, five great grandchildren Kira and Neal Holtzer, AJ, Aaron, and Alyssa Schultz. A Memorial Service will be held at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center, 600 Acacia Lane on March 2 at 2:00 p.m. The family prefers memorials be made to the Scottish Rite Children's Language Center, 625 Acacia Lane, Santa Rosa, CA 95409.
