Passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at the age of 79. Ken was known for his annual Christmas party for his neighbors on Germone Road. He was very proud to say he personally met and knew each resident by name. Tradition will continue in his memory by his children. Ken is survived by his sister, Virginia Hess Jennings, and his three children and his two grandchildren Kyle Gomber and Katherine Gomber. Ken was born in Pasadena, CA by Jesse W. Hess and Marguerite Chisholm Hess. After college he joined the Air Force and spent four years at Castle Air Force Base in, CA working in logistics at the base. He spent his days off by driving back to Pasadena in his Cobra sports car to spend time with his future wife Phyllis. He was always impressed by his record time. He married Phyllis Ann Brown Hess in 1960 and the two raised their children Karl W. Hess, Paul A. Hess and his daughter Katrina L. Hess -Gomber, in South Pasadena, CA. Retiring at 55 both Phyllis and Ken moved to the country side in west Sonoma County and built a beautiful grand house, and spent many hours landscaping the country side house and property. In 1997 Phyllis passed away and Ken poured all his energy and time into the Sebastopol Senior Center. After five years on the board of directors he flew the coop and designed and built a second house in Ocean Shores WA, to be near his family of cousins. His children were always amazed he did the drive in 12 hours. Ken went on many day and overnight excursions with the Santa Rosa Day Trippers. He enjoyed the theater, musicals and adventures events such as being a passenger in a glider plane at 75 years old. He also enjoyed his season tickets to the Santa Rosa Symphony with his group of friends. During the last seven years of life Ken was able to be "Himself" and was able to find love again. Ken was and always be a unique person full of jokes, one liners. To Live, To Love and to Leave a Legacy, here is to you - Our one and only - Forever in our hearts, Forever will be missed. A Celebration of Life will be held at his residence on Sunday, June 22 at 1:00 p.m.
