Mardis Adele Foster went to join her devoted husband, Charles L. Foster on February 22, 2014. A loving mother to Scott J. Foster of Honolulu, devoted grandmother of Carolyn Marie (Foster) Ballard and Danielle Jean Foster, beloved Aunt of Sidney, Brooks, Kimberly and Jeffery Painter, Mardis will be missed by family, friends and colleagues. Mardis was a lifelong educator, an elementary school teacher, principal and curriculum administrator for the Contra Costa School District, past principal of Harding School, retired in 1979. She was a native Californian, born in San Francisco, a Lowell High School alumni, and graduate/alumni of San Francisco University. Mardis was a past president of ROAL, Charter President of Alpha Delta Kappa, Alpha Phi Chapter, Fidelis Gamma, member of Daughters of the Nile, Empire Chapter and resident of Oakmont, Santa Rosa. Mardis loved Hawaii and owned a home on the North Shore of Oahu where she spent summers and Christmas holidays. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital.
