Born January 30, 1928 in New Rochelle, New York. Passed away in Santa Rosa, CA March 22, 2014 surrounded by family. Miles was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Jane A. Smith, who passed away on December 30, 1999. He is survived by their children, David (Leah), Rick (Lynne), Diana (Jim), Sandy (Bruce), Patty (John), 13 grand children, 20 great grand children, brother-in-law Bob, nephew Mike, and two nieces, Kathy and Jenny. He is also survived by his wife Ethel, whom he married in March of 2006. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and Korea. Miles worked as a designer, renderer & estimator for Curtain Wall Construction. He was a prolific writer of Letters to the Editor in the Marin Independent Journal. In his retirement years Miles volunteered at Kaiser and Meals on Wheels. In 2013 he published his Book a "Whole New Navy" a history of the war in the Pacific during WWII. This book was a labor of love since the 1950's. Miles your wry sense of humor will be missed! A memorial service will be held April 12 at 11:00 am at the Fairfax Women's Club. 46 Park Road, Fairfax, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice.
