Entered into God's care June 5, 2014 at home in Sebastopol at the age of 94, surrounded by his loving family. He was born, raised and educated in Springfield, IL and has been a Sebastopol resident since 1957. Odie served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps in Guadalcanal and Okinawa during World War II. He enjoyed singing in the church choir, horses, fishing, the outdoors and most of all spending time with his family. Odie is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Dorothy; son, Bruce and wife Rhoni Jennings; daughter, Sally Edwards; five grandchildren, Melanie Pentkowski, Matthew and wife Jennifer Pentkowski, Chad and wife Jamie Jennings, Samantha and husband Brooks McMullan and Andrew and wife Lee Jennings; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara McCarty; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Viewing will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2014 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. with the funeral starting at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary, 1700 Pleasant Hill Rd., Sebastopol. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Odie's name to the Sebastopol United Methodist Church, 500 N. Main St., Sebastopol, CA 95472.
