After a short illness Bob Harris died peacefully with his family at his side on February 3, 2013 at Kaiser Hospital, San Rafael, CA. Born August 20, 1929 in Texarkana, Arkansas, Bob served in the US Navy from 1946 until 1948, serving in the USS Higbee, patrolling off the coast of China. Bob lived the last 48 years in Petaluma, teaching at Petaluma Senior High School until his retirement in 1988. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Laverna (Smith), daughters Rita (Ronnie) Crawford, Linda (Mike) McGunagle, son Chuck (Karin Koch) Harris, two brothers and a sister, 10 grandchildren and two great granddaughters, and was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lee, Jr. Bob earned BS and MS degrees at Eastern New Mexico University, Portales, NM and pursued additional studies at Sonoma State University, University of Utah and the University of Southern California. A dedicated youth sports fan he served in numerous ways with Little League, Youth Soccer program as well as score-keeper, game manager, and Golf Coach at Petaluma Senior High.
