Of Santa Rosa California, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13th surrounded by his family. He was 90 years old. Tom was born on August 1, 1923 in San Francisco, one of six children. He served as a Corporal in the US Army in the South Pacific and Korea and after returning to San Francisco, met the love of his life, Elva Ramos. They married in 1948 and after having four children, moved to Santa Rosa where they raised their family and resided for more than 50 years. Tom worked as a Firefighter and Inspector in the San Francisco Fire Department for 30 years and retired in 1979. Tom was an avid reader and a lifelong learner. He had a passion for life and those who knew him were inspired by his insight and quick wit. In addition to enjoying music, discussions of world affairs and a variety of hobbies, Tom's favorite moments were always his family celebrations. He possessed a generous heart and a joyful spirit and was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. He and Elva enjoyed many travels abroad including numerous trips to their beloved Paris. He also loved to golf and was active with the Seniors Club at the Bennett Valley Golf Course. Tom is survived by his wife Elva, sister Pauline, children: Steven, Janice (Jim), Joan (Will), Tom (Ivy), grandchildren: Andrew (Amy), Tracy, Jennifer, Sarah and Alison, and niece and nephews. A mass will be said for Tom at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery Chapel, Santa Rosa, on October 24th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Memorial Hospice of Santa Rosa.
