Born in Santa Rosa, California on November 5, 1914, second son of George and Florence (Heim) Henderson. He passed away at his home on Sunday, July 27, 2014 in Santa Rosa at the age of 99 years. He attended local grammar School, Santa Rosa High School, played football for Santa Rosa Junior College and rugby for UCLA where he received a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. He is a veteran of World War II U.S. Army at Guadalcanal and in the Philippines as a member of the 640th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He married the love of his life Loretta A. Gardella and started a family. She preceded him in death after 46 years of marriage. He also was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Cy, Robert and Paul and his sister Florence Ann. He leaves behind his daughter Jayne (Campbell), McGinnis, son Kim, three grandchildren Bill, Devon (John Carpenter)and Paul, two great grandchildren, four sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. In 1949 he built "Gardener's Aid" on Sebastopol Road where he worked for fifty years. He was a member of the Roseland Volunteer Fire Department for thirty-four years, past president of Roseland Lions Club, member of the Navy League and many other organizations.. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 10 a.m., with Father Denis O' Sullivan officiating, at Daniels Chapel of the Roses. Private interment at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Santa Rosa, CA. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to their favorite charity.
