KAPLOWITZ, DR. BERNARD M. - passed away on Tuesday, February 5th in Newport Beach, California. Bernie was a wonderful father, husband and friend who always made people feel good with his warmth, kindness and caring. He was born in Spring Valley, New York, April 4, 1927. He was a good student receiving his undergraduate degree from Penn State University. He then went on to Dental School at New York University. While in Boston working on his degree in Perio-dontal medicine he met the love of his life Amy, who was a nursing student at Beth Israel Hospital. They married on September 29th 1955. He and Amy settled in Ventnor, New Jersey and enjoyed life by the beach. Bernie and his family enjoyed sailing, travel, art and sports, (especially Philadelphia Flyers and Philadelphia Eagles). He was a long time member of Temple Beth Judah. For many years Bernie and his partners had a highly successful Periodontal practice. He ultimately had three offices; Atlantic City, Northfield and Vineland, New Jersey. He was a Lifetime Member of the American Academy of Periodontology. He served on the faculty of University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Years later, Bernie retired from his practice and moved to Boston. He and Amy enjoyed the arts and fine restaurants of this special city. In Boston, they loved their time at Temple Israel. Bernie also enjoyed his visits to his home in Palm Desert, CA. Over the past couple of years, Bernie lived in Irvine, CA where he was able to spend some great times with his family. He loved the home cooked meals, catching a ball game on TV and laughing with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Amy, son, Lloyd Kaplowitz, daughter Andrea Lury (Alan), and daughter Jill Kwong (Steve). He will also be missed by his brother Fred Kaplowitz and his wife Henrietta. Bernie has six grandchildren who miss their beloved "Poppi," Abagail, Halle, JB, Ben, Lily and Juliane. Your love is with us always. Memorial donations may be made to Temple Israel, 477 Longwood Ave, Boston MA 02215
