ANASTASI, JOSEPH V. 79 - of Brigantine passed away peace-fully on Wed- October 9, 2013 with his family by his side. Born in Atlantic City, Joe grew up on Mississippi Ave, attending St Michael's Grammar School and Atlantic City High School. He joined the United States Navy, and received an honorable discharge. He married the love of his life, Myrna Lee Fox also of Atlantic City and decided to move to Brigantine to raise their family. Joe was employed by the NJ Bell Telephone Co. when he joined the Brigantine C.D. Auxiliary Police Department and later became a full time Brigantine policeman, coming up through the ranks being elevated to Captain before retiring in 1985. Joe had many accomplishments while serving Brigantine, including being their first bicycle safety officer and was very instrumental in obtaining surplus military vehicles and equipment for city use. He had many hobbies but his passion was surf fishing from Brigantine Beaches. Joe is predeceased by his parents Joseph T. and Rose Anastasi. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Myrna Lee (nee Fox), his children Susan Ferris (William), Joseph H. Anastasi, and Deborah Hoffman (Robert). Joseph is also survived by his grandchildren Julie Alsofrom (Daniel), William Ferris Jr. (Kimberly), two great-grandchildren Ava and Bella Ferris and his sister Rose Marie Bacon. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joseph's Life Celebration Saturday October 12, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:30am at the Brigantine Bible Church, 103 Bayshore Ave Brigantine.
