WILSON, KENNETH H. "CAPTAIN KEN" 92 - of Port Republic passed away peacefully at his home on Monday June 10, 2013. Captain Ken was born September 11, 1920 in Port Republic and was the oldest Port Republic lifetime resident and WWII Veteran at the time of his passing. He served his country in the US Coast Guard from 1941 to 1945 & was discharged a disabled veteran being injured during an attempt to rescue another vessel. Captain Ken was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and a brother Master Mason. His love of the water and being an outdoorsman determined his career. Captain Ken started his charter boat business in 1952 and in 1958 cut his own lumber to build his new charter boat Valiant II. Many of his clients included corporations from the Philadelphia area and including a former Governor of Pennsylvania. Captain Ken retired in the mid eighties, but continued his love for fishing in NJ and Marco Island, FL. During his retirement years, he was dedicated to teaching others the skills of fishing in both states. Captain Ken was predeceased by his beloved wife Doris of 63 years. He is survived by his two sons, Kenneth L. (Nancy L.), Donald C. (Anna M.), grandchildren Brian and Candice, and his heartfelt caregiver and loving friend Jackie Keselica. A celebration of life and a Masonic Ceremony will be held on Saturday June 15th 11:00AM at the St. Paul's Methodist Church 118 Main St, Port Republic. Burial will be private.
