Arthur M. Folaros, 94, of Rotonda West, Fla., passed away on Oct. 28, 2013. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Port Charlotte, serving as a member of the parish council and being an integral part of the church for many years. He was also the past president of St. Elpis Greek Orthodox Church in Hopewell, Va. for eight years.

Arthur retired from military service with both the U.S. Army Air Corps and Army Quartermaster after 40 years of service. He served in the 9th Air Force and the 320th Bomber Group during WWII, seeing duty in England, Belgium, Germany and Czechoslovakia. He also served as an Army advisor to the Vietnamese at the onset of the Vietnam War and was part of a military assistance group in Greece.
Col. Folaros received two Bronze Stars for Valor, the Purple Heart, two Commendation Medals and the Belgium Fourragere.
During his last 15 years of service he was assigned to the faculty of the of the U.S. Army Logistics Management College in Fort Lee, Va., where he served as director of administrative services and as director of the acquisition management department.
He was preceded in death by: his loving wife Eva; and is survived by: his sons, Peter and Jim, daughter-in-law, Carol; and his granddaughters, Anna and Morgan.
Funeral services were held at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Port Charlotte, Fla.
Donations may be made in his name to St. Elpis Greek Orthodox Church in Hopewell, Va.
