Edwin Duval "Bootie" Pilcher, 66, of Williamsburg, Va., passed away peacefully on Sept. 25, 2013, surrounded by his family. Bootie was born Sept. 18, 1947, to the late Dr. Edwin Mason Pilcher and Frances Lamb Pilcher. He grew up in Petersburg, Va., and graduated from Randolph-Macon Academy. He attended Old Dominion University and graduated from North Carolina Wesleyan College in 1972 where he was selected as a member of the sports hall of fame for his accomplishments as a member and captain of the golf team which he lead to the conference title in 1972.

Bootie served as president and general manager of Southlawn Memorial Park from 1978 to 1991, and later at Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton. He was a former member of Petersburg Rotary Club and Breakfast Rotary Club and former Member of Christ and Grace Episcopal Church in Petersburg and later, a member of Bruton Parish Church.

An avid golfer, Bootie won many PGA sanctioned amateur golf tournaments. He was a former member of Country Club of Petersburg where he was member-guest champion in 1974 and men's golf champion in 1968, 1969, 1971 and 1978. He also won several other championships throughout the Commonwealth including the Kingsmill seniors championship. His avocation could have been his vocation as he was an extraordinary cook and chef.

Left to fondly remember his love, devotion and kindness are: his wife, Melinda Eure Pilcher; and three sons, Edwin Mason Pilcher II and his wife, Katherine W. Tanner Pilcher, Francis Robert Pilcher and wife, Allison Perkinson Pilcher, and son, Owen Bradley, all of Richmond, and Raleigh Colston Pilcher of Williamsburg.
