BALLEM, JOHN P. 82, of Cranston, passed away at home, February 9, 2014. He was husband of the late Mary (McSweeney) Ballem. Born in Quincy, MA, a son of the late Joseph A.L. and Martha (Arnold) Ballem. John was a Computer Analyst for Converse Inc. for many years, retiring in 1994. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the United States Marines. He was a member of the 1st Marine Division Assoc., BPOE Elks, Quincy, MA Lodge 943, American Legion Shields Post #43, VFW Post #183 and the Warwick Firefighters. He was the father of John P., Jr. and David M. and Daniel J. Ballem, Mary Beth Francoeur, brother of Elizabeth Dunphy-Ballem and the late Leo, Paul, Joseph and Daniel Ballem, Marie DiDonato, Barbara Hamel, Ruth Barra, Francis Ballem, Jeanne Sheehan and Annette Castro. He leaves 4 grandchildren and a great granddaughter. Funeral Service Friday at 11:00 A.M. in the Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, 1895 Broad St. at Park Ave., Cranston. Visitation Friday morning 9:30-11:00 A.M. Burial with Military Honors will be held at R.I. Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, R.I. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
