Hazel Smith The Lord came to take Hazel (Irene) Webber Smith, formerly of York, home on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 9:20 am at Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg. She was 87 years young. Hazel Webber Smith graduated from Chambersburg High School in 1943. She then worked at the Letterkenny Army Depot. She graduated with a B.S. in Education from Shippensburg State College in 1954. Mrs. Smith was an elementary school teacher at the Dover Area School District in York County for 24 years. Prior to that, she taught at Shiloh Elementary for two years. Mrs. Smith loved all God's children and teaching them. Hazel Smith was a devoted and faithful servant of Christ and actively participated in many prayer chains. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, York, and a member of the United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association. Born in Franklin County, Pa., on October 5, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Albert and the late Mary (Davis) Webber. Hazel W. Smith was the wife of Harry E. Smith, and she passed away four days shy of their 59th anniversary on July 17th. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Rena Beruck and her husband Bill, York; Rosemary Martin and her husband Kevin, Frederick, Md.; and David Smith and his wife Sharon, Spring Grove. She also delighted in her grandchildren: Ryan and Rhonda Leathery, and Katie Beruck; Aaron and Danielle Smith; and Tyler Martin. She also was the sister of Lorraine Christman, Mid Carter, Glenn Webber and the late Ruby Wilson. There is no viewing; however, a visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at 5 p.m. followed by a memorial celebration of the life and faith of Hazel Smith, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., by Pastor Garvin and Pastor Rose, at the Messiah Village Chapel, 100 Mt. Allen Drive, Mechanicsburg. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made be made to or to: Arrangements entrusted to the John W.
