Staff Sergeant Robert M. Devitto, 26, of 237 Strike Eagle Drive, Broadway, N.C., and formerly of Fort Loudon, died Friday, December 21, 2012, in WakeMed Hospital, Wake County, N.C., following a duck hunting trip with his dog, Mayhem in Lee County, N.C. Born May 11, 1986, in Allegheny County, he was the son of Linda A. (Devitto) Strite and Larry D. Strite, M. Sgt. U.S. Air Force Retired, both of Shippensburg. He graduated from James Buchanan High School, Mercersburg, with the class of 2005, where he played on the football team. Following graduation from high school, Robert joined the United States Army. He was currently a Staff Sergeant on active duty, stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. He had served one tour in Korea and one combat tour each in Iraq and Afghanistan. He and his wife, Jaimi K. (Sherrill) Devitto, were married on July 25, 2007 in Chambersburg. Robert was a member of the Clarence Armstrong V.F.W. Post #6241, Mercersburg, and he enjoyed hunting, playing pool, motorcycles, Penn State Football, and spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his sister, Nicole M. Devitto of Shippensburg. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2013, in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Green-castle. Following the service, a reception will be held for a time of fellowship and refreshments. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4 p.m. Friday afternoon, in the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will be Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania, 950 Walnut Bottom Road, Suite 15-229, Carlisle, PA 17015.
