Ronald Lee Hoover Ronald Lee Hoover, 53, of Mercersburg, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014. Ron was born July 23, 1960, at Hagerstown, a son of Beverly Burker Hoover of Hagerstown and the late Ronald Roy Hoover. He was a 1978 graduate of North Hagerstown High School. He had been employed at Hagerstown Kitchens and was last employed at Certainteed of Hagerstown, from which he retired in 2012. Ron was a member of Redmen Club of Williamsport, Md., American Legion #517, VFW #6241, and Moose Lodge #1790, all of Mercersburg. His greatest pleasure was teaching his grandsons to fish and crab and being involved in their sporting events, spending time with his family, and hunting and fishing on the Eastern Shore. He will also be deeply missed by his second campground family and fishing buddies at Cape Charles, Va., where his ashes will be scattered by his wife, Emma, on their last fishing trip together. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 28 years, Emma J. Spigler Hoover; daughters, Katherine L. Hoover and her companion Joseph Schianodicola of Chambersburg, Heather L. and husband Troy Straitiff; and a stepson Matthew J. Wasilius, all of Hagerstown; grandsons, Chase, Noah, Aiden, Logan, and Landan; a brother, Scott and wife Xanthy Hoover; and a sister, Sharon Hoover-Bostic and her fiance Billy Bozman, all of Hagerstown; a niece, Nicky and husband Chase Stewart; and a nephew, Harrison Hoover. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his Uncle John Burker; paternal grandparents, Roy and Francis Hoover; and maternal grandparents, George and Georgia Burker. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday April 22, at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg. The family requests the omission of flowers.
