August 4, 2014

Arnold L. Odermatt known by all as "Roy", passed away in Hagerstown, Maryland on August 3, 2014 with his wife Dixie, daughter Kelly & son-in-law Earl, by his side. He was able to visit with daughters Myra & Debbie, grandchildren & great children before his passing.

Roy & Dixie raised 5 children, Debbie Taft, Myra Beers, Kelly Jenkins Moreland, Curt Jenkins & Bruce Jenkins and had 12 Grandchildren & 11 Great Grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his brothers Ernie & Jim, sister Yvonne Nagel, son Bruce Jenkins, grandson Joe Taft & son-in-law Tony Rideout.

Born & raised in Carson City, Nevada, Roy enlisted in the Navy in 1949 and was a proud Korean War Veteran. He worked in the construction business throughout Nevada until being forced into early retirement from a rare eye disease which left him totally blind in 1982. This never stopped him from doing anything he wanted. Roy Odermatt was a true inspiration to anyone who ever knew him. Roy spent the past 23 years in Hagerstown, Maryland where he lived with his wife Dixie, daughter Kelly, son-in-law, and three grandchildren.

Roy was known by all for his unsurpassable knowledge of world history, politics, sense of humor & tremendous ability in storytelling.

At Roy's request, there will be no funeral. The family will follow his wishes and take him home.
