Buddy Mack Beard, 75, of Sparks, Nevada, died peacefully March 23rd at home. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, March 30, at the Sparks United Methodist Church.
Buddy was born on February 20, 1939, in Archer City, Texas, to Grady Buryl Beard and Olive Augusta McKinney. He married Leila Margaret Kantz (deceased 2001). He is survived by children Rebecca Galindo and Joseph Grady Beard; grandchildren Sara Meza, Daniel Galindo, Josephine and Madeline Beard; great-grandson Liam Meza; brothers Joe Mike Beard and Jimmie Lee Beard; and several nieces and nephews.
Buddy graduated from Graham High School, the University of Texas (1962), and received an MBA from the University of North Dakota. He served as Captain in the Air Force Strategic Air Command with Atlas and Minuteman missiles. In 1973 he co-founded Joe Beard and Associates Mechanical Engineers with his brother Joe. Buddy authored technical articles, a book, and several U.S. Patents. Buddy was a Mason and a lifelong student of history, religion, and science, and taught himself Chinese. He ran the Marathon in Greece, and traveled to China, Taiwan, and other countries. Buddy lovingly cared for his parents and in-laws, and was nurturing to all.
