Beloved husband, father and grampa Calvin J. McBride graduated from this life on Friday the 14th of March. He passed peacefully at his home in Sparks surrounded by his beloved wife Rayola and family members. He was 86 years young. Cal was born in Goshen Idaho, and was the third of seven children born to Elda Roylance McBride and Garnel J. McBride. His mother Elda died while Cal was serving in the army. Garnel later married Ruth Warnock adding four more siblings to their family.

A real "Idaho Spud" Calvin spent his childhood working hard on their family farm in Osgood Idaho. He went on to earn his bachelors degree in business administration and graduated from Utah State University. Cal also served two tours in the U. S. army where he earned the rank of lieutenant.

On July 18, 1950 Cal married his childhood sweetheart Rayola Carpenter in the Idaho Falls temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. As a young couple they then served a two year mission for their church in Askov Minnesota.

After returning from their mission they began raising their family which grew to include six children.

R.T. French's was where Cal worked as a purchasing agent before moving to Sparks and opening C & M Music Center where he sold pianos, organs, and guitars and rented band instruments to local music students.

Calvin loved sports and after he retired from the music business he stayed busy umpiring for the Truckee Meadows area softball and football leagues. Above all Cal

Had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with family and friends.

Calvin was preceded in death by their daughter Rita, his parents, two sisters and a brother. He is survived by his beautiful wife Rayola and their children Roxanne Milich, Brian and Jill McBride, Trudi Milligan, Blair McBride, and Holly and Russ Smith, nineteen grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

A funeral celebrating his life will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel at 2955 Rock Blvd on Saturday the 22nd of March. The viewing will be from 9-10am to be followed by the service at 11am.
