Charles "Jay" Abdo, III

Charles "Jay" Abdo, III, passed away at his home in Incline Village, Nevada, Sunday, May 20, 2012. Jay was born in New Orleans, LA, May 16, 1960 and was a 45 year Nevada resident. Jay was a 1978 Graduate of Clark High School in Las Vegas, and a student at University of Nevada Reno 1978-1981. Jay was a devoted and loyal son, brother and father, and absolutely cherished his son, Austin. He had a passion for mountain biking, running, kayaking and skiing. Jay's philanthropic efforts were devoted to the Special Olympics and the Tahoe Rim Trail. His love of nature was contagious. He will be remembered by many for his creative writings, wit and his love of Lake Tahoe. Jay served the ski and golf resort industry in Northern Nevada for 20 years and was with Incline Village General Improvement District at Diamond Peak Ski Resort. Jay was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Hazel Abdo and his maternal grandparents, William and Eva Mince. He is survived by his precious 8 year old son, Austin; the love of his life, Terra Calegari of San Francisco, CA; parents, Dr. Charles J. and Ruth Abdo of Las Vegas; brothers, Laus (Teresa) of Las Vegas; Ashley (MaryBeth) of Beverly Hills, CA; sisters, Adrienne Abdo Duran (Bob) of Pasadena, CA., Allison Abdo Wojciechowski (Tim) of Las Vegas; Laurie Abdo Purdue (Don) of Las Vegas, and Amy Abdo Matthews (Chris) of Paradise Valley, AZ; and 15 beloved nieces and nephews. A celebration of Jay's life and mass will be on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 701 Mount Rose Highway, Incline Village, NV. An additional celebration and mass will be held in Las Vegas on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3046 Alta Drive, Las Vegas, Nevada. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Austin Abdo Educational Trust Fund at Wells Fargo Bank Account No. 9220905229.
