Charles L. Appleton passed away August 4, with his wife of 51 years by his side. Chuck was born in Saltville, VA in 1917.
After studying Chemistry at the University of Michigan he learned to fly small planes. At the start of the war in 1940, he went to Florida to teach flying to military cadets.
Chuck continued flying as a pilot for Pan American World Airways for 37 years, flying to all of the continents.
Chuck continued to stay active after retiring and taught math electronics at both UNR and TMCC. He was an excellent skier and was a well known figure at Mt. Rose Ski Resort. Chuck also sang with several church choirs, as well as the UNR Chorus.
He is survived by Margot his wife of 51 years, two daughters, Steffany Appleton and Beth Harbough and her husband David, 2 grandsons and 2 great grand children.
