Charles Richard Driver, long time Fallon resident passed away January 20, 2013 after a short bout with cancer.
Charlie was born in Elkmont, Alabama on December 8, 1928 to Dessie and Letitia Driver.
Charlie was a Chief Boiler Tender in the US Navy, retiring after 20 years. He went to work for Civil Service in Long Beach, CA. Charlie with his wife came to visit friends in Fallon and ended up moving here in 1968. He worked at NAS Fallon, retiring after 20 years service. During his younger years in Fallon, Charlie coached Youth Baseball for 8 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting, he raised birds, pheasants, quail, and with his spare time he worked in his wood working shop.
Preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 1 sister. Charlie is survived by his wife of 55 years, Irene Driver of Fallon; daughters, Viola Cline; Jeanette Van Strien; Patsy and Steven Spurlock all of Las Vegas; sons, Charles Driver of Lodi, CA.; Donald Driver of Maine; grandchildren, Stephen; Samantha; Craig; Donald; Stacey; Steven; James and Adam; great-grandchildren, Stephanie; Kevin; Scott; Emily; Joshua and Evan.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at The Gardens Cemetery on Friday, February 1, 2013. A Celebration of Charlie's life will be held at the Fallon Elk's Lodge following inurnment. Donations may be made in Charlie's memory to the Fallon Youth Baseball, PO Box 768, Fallon, NV 89407, or to CAPS, PO Box 1528 Fallon, NV 89407.
