Curtis passed away after a brief illness on July 26th. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Cynthia; daughter, Kimbrough Clay-Chipley; sons, Samuel Clay, Bryan "Bobo" Cimarron, Gregory Cimarron (Natalie); sister, Susan Clay-Buelna; brother, Alan Clay (Sandra); mother, Marcella Clay-Mings; aunt, Marg Green; uncle, Pat Molder and mother in law Marcella Brownson, several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family from California, Nevada and South Dakota.
Curtis was born in Redding, CA in 1951 and was raised in the Redding area. He graduated from Shasta High School, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1969 and later attended college in Longview, WA.
Curtis was an avid sportsman, participating in many sports but had a passion for baseball. Playing from the age of 9 thru college ball in Longview. As he got older, not a day went by without ESPN. However, Cynthia was proud of the fact that he agreed to the wedding date being on a Saturday during playoff season!
Curtis resided for the past 20 years in Reno, NV with Cynthia where they married many years ago and had a beautiful home. He was a wonderful caring person, husband, brother and son. He was my beloved best friend and husband who touched so many lives. He is now at peace.
At his request, Curtis will be cremated and services will take place on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 10am at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Reno, graveside services with Military Honors will follow at noon at Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, NV.
