A Celebration of Life will be held for Dale Young at St Luke's Lutheran Church, located at 3835 Lakeside Drive in Reno, Nevada on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 1:00 pm. Dale was born in Ogden, Utah and died at age 83, after a short battle with cancer. Dale married LuNeva in 1950 and was drafted by the Boston Braves baseball team before being drafted and serving in the Army during the Korean War. He taught school in Tampa, Kansas before moving to Sparks in 1960 to raise their family. Dale worked for Washoe County School District from 1960 to 1992 at both Reno High and Hug High Schools. He was an avid golfer and was a Marshall at Rosewood Lakes Golf Course after retiring. Dale was very involved with Special Olympics with his youngest son, Tim. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnty and Viola, his wife, LuNeva, four brothers and one sister. Dale is survived by his four children, Karen Cox (Ron) of Bamberg, Germany; Nancy Curry (Jerry) of Sparks, NV; Michael Young (Cindi) of Fort Collins, CO and Timothy Young of Sparks, NV; his grandson, Derek Burke of Reno, NV; three step grandchildren, Savannah DelCampo, Alexis Garrett, Austin Mayfield and two great grandchildren, LilyJo and Emerson Burke. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Dale to High Sierra Industries Sheltered Workshop, 555 Reactor Way, Reno.
