Henry Carl Tschantz, 90, of Reno, NV passed away the 8th of May, 2014. He was born the 9th of August, 1923 in Patterson, CA to the late Henry Carl and Anna Musser Tschantz, and grew up in the area, spending much of his life in Modesto, CA. He was preceded in death by two wives: Shirlie Reed Tschantz of Reno, NV and Lois Ferguson Tschantz of Modesto, CA; four sisters and a great-granddaughter.

Henry is survived by his two daughters, Suzanne Hardegree of Waterford, CA and Cynthia Tschantz of Austin, TX; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren: granddaughter Brittni Rumage (husband Will), great-grandsons Cash and Stone of Celina, TX; grandson Geoff Murphy of Austin, TX; granddaughter Summer Brewer, great-grandson Jett of Houston, TX; grandson Scott Warner (wife Amy), great-grandson Jaxon and great-granddaughter Harper of Kilgore, TX. He was a proud father and grandpa who had a deep love for his family, and cherished many of his friends for life. His sense of humor touched many and he will be missed.

Henry served his country in military service during WWII, 1942-46, being honorably discharged as a Staff Sgt of the 20th Air Force. He was a member of the Modesto lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks for 65 years and was their oldest surviving member at the time of his death. Henry was well known in the Modesto area during the 50s & 60s as the proprietor of the Bamboo Room on 10th Street, the LaVilla on Yosemite Blvd, and the El Patio on McHenry Ave., from which many of his lifelong friendships grew. Before retiring, Henry spent several years as a salesman for large automotive dealerships in Modesto and the west side.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 2nd at 10:00 am at the Patterson Cemetery District, Patterson, CA., with military honors by the Gustine Veterans Honor Guard and the Modesto Elks Lodge.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Henry's honor be directed to the American Parkinson Disease Association; or to one's favorite charity.
