James (Jim) Gordon Stewart Jr., 83, went home to heaven on June 6, 2013, to be reunited with his beloved son Michael; he passed away at his home with his family by his side. Born on November 13, 1929 to James Gordon Stewart Sr. and Zilda Emma Cross Stewart in Glendale CA. He attended Catholic school in Glendale and Burbank graduating from Loyola High School in Los Angeles in 1949, He studied geology at Occidental and Glendale College. In 1951 he was drafted into the Army and served in the Korean War as a field wireman and scout on the 38th Parallel, after Korea he returned home to California. In October 1952 he was transferred to the army reserve, and received an honorable discharge on September 24th 1956 at the rank of Cpl. In January 1953 he met Jean Marie Predmore through mutual friends; they were married on August 22, 1953. After a brief period living in Minnesota near Jeanie's family they returned to California and moved to Nevada in 1958. He had a long sales career which included working for Bill Lear. Licensed in real estate sales in the early 70's he owned several brokerages, Wagon Wheel Realty, Cameo Investments and Red Rock Estates Inc., as one of the original brokers with the Rancho Haven, Sierra Ranchos and Red Rock Estates land sales project, he enjoyed hiking the hills and fishing in the Rancho Haven pond, he and Jeanie built their dream retirement home in Red Rock. In the 70's Jim and Jeanie purchased horses for their daughters Laurie and Carrie, Carrie began competing in junior and high School rodeos, and he became a "photographer" he purchased a video camera, and filmed every rodeo and shared the tapes with all, which he truly enjoyed. He loved his grandkids and when his grandsons were in Pop Warner and High School Football he once again was the "cameraman" and shared the tapes with the kids and the North Valleys High School Football coaches, who recognized him with an award for his hard work and dedication to the team. He is survived by wife Jeanie, son Patrick Stewart, daughters Laurie Laguna, Carrie McCargar, (Jeff) 8 grandchildren, Alicia, Heather, Holly, Ashley, Nisha, Hayley, Justin and Cody. 11 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jean Stewart Cotton, his beloved son Michael Ernest Stewart, his grandson James Patrick Stewart "Baby Jimmy" brother- in- law Richard (Dick) Cotton and many friends, he has "Gone Fishin" in heaven with Michael whom he missed for many years and all his loved ones and friends. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday June 24, 10:30 am at the Chapel at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery 2700 N. Virginia St Reno NV 89507, following the ceremony there will be a celebration of life at the home he and Jeanie built in Red Rock.
