Kenneth Aytes Obituary
Kenneth C. Aytes

September 18, 1944

June 30, 2013

Kenneth C. Aytes passed away at his Sparks home Sunday morning, June 30th, as a result of complications from battling Parkinson's disease and Melanoma cancer; he was surrounded by his loving family. Ken was born September 18th, 1944 in Burbank, California and spent a majority of his life living in the Truckee Meadows. Ken graduated from Reno High School in before serving his country admirably in the Vietnam War where he was awarded a Purple Heart and Army Commendation Medal as a result of his service and valor. A true Nevadan, Ken returned home to his family's ranch in Fallon before eventually working and living across much of Northern Nevada over the subsequent forty years. Ken retired from Nevada Bell as an Engineer in 1993. After raising five boys together, Ken and his loving wife Diane retired to the peace and serenity of one of their favorite places in the world, the Oregon Coast, before returning home to Nevada in 2012. Our family could not have asked for a better husband, father, brother, or grandfather than the one we were blessed to have had. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and caregivers of VistaCare Hospice for all the assistance, effort, and care they have provided our family over the final month of Ken's life, affording him the opportunity to rest peacefully, with his family by his side.

Ken was preceded in death by his mother Jeanne, father William and brother-in-law Ronald. He is survived and remembered, always, by his loving wife Diane; sons Jon (Lisa), Justin (Brooke), Aaron (Angie), Jason (Diana), and Jerrad; sister Shari Mari and brother-in-law Bill; sister Merri Lynn; grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. As per his wishes, there will be no services and in lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made, in Ken's name, to the National Parkinson Foundation and/or to continue the fight to find a cure.
