Monte Elizabeth Kyle, 93, passed away June 7, having lost her battle with cancer. Monte was born to Samuel Kyle & Minnie Clementine Kyle (Green) on March 11, 1920 in Marble City, OK. She came from a large family of ten brothers and sisters.
She enjoyed a long and interesting life pursuing a career in public health and traveling to many different countries.
She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Colorado in 1950, followed by the Master of Public Health degree from the University of Minnesota in 1956. She served as a registered nurse in the United States Naval Reserve during WWII. After the war, she worked in public health in Iran, teaching nursing techniques, then traveled to Alaska, retiring there from a long career as a Nurse Practitioner.
Monte leaves behind many nieces and nephews who loved and admired her courage and determination to always continue learning and stay connected to her family and friends. She also leaves behind a friend, Betty Dietrich of Redding, CA. Monte and Betty remained friends for 70 years and were like sisters never losing contact and spending vacations together; they were as close as sisters, maybe more so.
Her family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the caregivers at Providence & Century Home Care for their kindness, as they went out of their way to make her as comfortable as possible. They are wonderful, caring people who are always respectful of their patients. Thank You from the bottom of our hearts.
A memorial service will be held at the Fitzhenry Mortuary in Carson City, NV June 18, 2013 at 2:00 pm.
