Patrick "Pat" Maurice Gavin

Patrick (Pat) Gavin passed away suddenly on June 20th 2014 at the age of 77. He was born in New Hampshire and was a state championship gymnast during his youth who joined the Navy after high school. Patrick served honorably during the Korean conflict as an electricians mate from 1954 to 1958. The ships he served include the USS Chipola (AO-631) and USS Edisto (AGB-2). He went on to marry and attended college in San Francisco attaining a degree in electrical engineering. Patrick worked throughout the globe at such places as Saudi Arabia and the Alaskan Pipe Line, also working at nuclear facilities across the US. He was a well-thought-of character who made a memorable first impression.He never met a stranger and always had a story to tell. Pat remained active throughout his life and was always willing to give a helping hand. He enjoyed reading, writing, fishing, camping, riding motorcycles and his bicycle in his later years.

He is survived by his daughter Mari Gavin, son Kevin Gavin and two grandchildren. He is also survived by his long-time companion's children Jean Mohebi and family. Private services will be held in Houston Texas. Contributions may be made in Pat's name to the Washoe County Library.
