Richard E. Ekman
Palm Springs, CA — Richard E. Ekman, age 74, died Tuesday February 4, 2014 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Rich was born in Chicago, Illinois January 14, 1940 where he attended Northwestern University. He later attended U.C. Berkeley. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served in the US Navy. Rich moved to Reno in 1978, coming from San Francisco. He had a successful commercial real estate business in the Reno area for 35 years. He was a resident of Hidden Valley where he could be found on the golf course whenever time permitted. Rich had a great love for golf, sports, fishing and the big Island of Hawaii. Survivors include his sister Joan (Lloyd). His longtime friend and former wife Judy, step-daughter Kelly (Scott), two grandchildren (Allison and Chase), several nieces and nephews, and many life-long friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Mary and his sister Joyce. Services will be private.
