Stanley K. Kinder Obituary
Stanley K Kinder

October 21, 1933

June 5, 2014

Stanley K. Kinder left us on June 5, 2014. Stan was an adventurer to the end and passed away suddenly in Brasov, Romania. He was intent on traveling the world with his sweetheart, Edie Anderson.

Stan was born on October 21, 1933 to Frank and Lucile Kinder in Huntington, Utah. He served in the Navy in the Korean War aboard the USS Boxer. He graduated from University of Utah with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1960. After college he worked at the Nevada Test Site and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He then went to work in the chemical industry, eventually becoming the owner of Sierra Chemical Co. He was extremely passionate and dedicated to his work. After 50 years, he sold the company to enjoy his family and travel the world.

Stan was active with many charitable organizations. He was an active Rotarian for many years, including past president of the Reno South club, a founding member of the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, and a member of both the Prospectors' Club and the Executives Association of Reno. He was a big supporter of UNR both in academics and athletics; and could be found at many of the sporting events cheering on the pack. He had many friends and was a larger than life personality that was hard to forget. When asked how he was, Stan would always reply, "Almost perfect" or "Why? Can't you tell?"

Stan was also blessed with five children: Tova Roseman, Marc Kinder, Lynn Kinder, Tracy Murphy, Jeffrey Kinder; and step daughter Kristi Croney. He was a devoted father and a driving force in all their lives.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bruce Kinder, Gale Kinder, and Fred Kinder, sisters Rita Jensen, and Ramona Leamaster.

Stan is survived by his children Tova Roseman (and husband Barry), Marc Kinder, Lynn Kinder (and wife Debi), Tracy Murphy (and husband Jim), Jeffrey Kinder (and wife Kathy), and step daughter Kristi Croney. He is also survived by grandchildren Sal Kinder, Joe Kinder (and wife Chevelle), Dom Kinder, Jett Murphy, Colby Croney, Cambria Croney, Hunter Murphy, Josh Kinder, Annalucia Kinder, Krystal Kinder and great granddaughter, Ahlina Kinder. He is also survived by his brother Dan Kinder (and wife Carol), and sisters Helen Majnik and LaRue Taylor.

Stan was devoted to his family and expected a lot of them. They adored him and he will be greatly missed.

Please join us for a celebration of his life open house on Saturday, June 21st, 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at his home; for more information contact Jeffrey Kinder at (775) 544-1652. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows.
