Trevor James McMinn

Trevor James McMinn was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 23, 1921. He passed away on November 4, 2013 in Reno.

He survived his older brother, Paul M. McMinn who died in 1974.

He received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from University of California, Berkeley with a specialization in Mathematical Logic under Tony Morse in 1956. He then took a position at the University of Washington for 6 years before coming to the University of Nevada, department of mathematics, in 1963. Trevor also worked as a civilian employee of the Navy during the second world war degaussing ships in Florida. He retired from UNR in 1988. After his retirement he kept his ties with the math department as Professor Emeritus.

He loved nature, traveling the world, being with his friends, hiking and skiing.

He was a true gentleman, considerate of everyone and everything, and loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by his three nieces.

In memory of Trevor James McMinn donations can be made to the Robert N. Tompson (note spelling) scholarship fund at the University of Nevada Reno.
