Herbert Anderson Obituary

Herbert C. (Andy) Anderson

February 24, 1920

July 25, 2013

Herbert C. (Andy) Anderson passed away on July 25, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was born a triplet with two sisters on February 24, 1920, in San Francisco, CA. Since he was born last of the three, he always claimed he was a gentleman from the beginning, letting the girls go first. Andy grew up in southern California and played football for Conoga Park High School. He enlisted in the Navy in July of 1939, and served his country on submarines during WWII. He was in the Hawaiian Islands when Pearl Harbor was attacked and was part of the Tokyo occupational force. Andy lived in South Lake Tahoe and Carson City where he owned and operated small businesses. He later relocated to the Reno Sparks area. Andy loved reading, telling Navy stories, and spending time with his family. He is survived by two sisters, Verona Driscoll and Helen Stults, as well as four children, Jan (Dan) McGrath, Dave (Gayle) Anderson, Paul (Donna) Anderson, and Cindy (Tom) Diani. He is also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, as well as his dear long-time friends, Dick and Betty Cooper. Friends will be received for a celebration of his life Friday, August 16, 2013 at 4:00 at Grace Church, 1220 Robb Drive, Reno, NV. Contributions may be made in Andy's name to the Veteran's Guest House or the Washoe County Library. John Sparks Memorial in charge of arrangements.
