ADA ELLA HARRIS BELVIDERE - Ada Ella Harris of Belvidere, departed this earthly life Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 19, 1923, in Belvidere, the daughter of Norman and Shirley Webster. She married Robert J. Harris in 1959, he preceded her in death. Ada was employed by the Rockford Board of Education 23 years before retiring. She was a member of the Jefferson Horton American Legion Auxiliary Post #340 for more than 64 years, formerly serving as the president 3 terms, historian, membership chairman and junior chairman also served as treasure for 43 years; serving at many levels including County, District and National levels. She was also a member of Kane County Salon #63 and a Honorary member of the Rock City Unique Steppers. She was a volunteer for R.S.V.P. for Winnebago and Boone County, Keen Age Center in Belvidere and more than 30 years for the Special Olympics and a Election Judge. She attended Belvidere Schools. Ada leaves to cherish many loving memories, son, Jeffry (Rosemarie) Harris; daughters, Shirley Jean Scott, Norma Stoudermire, Tina Harvey (Sam Lawson), Deborah K. Whitehead and Tamela Harris; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 19 great- great-grandchildren; bro-ther, Michael (Barbara) Webster; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased also by her parents; son, Gary Harris; daughter, Antoinette Henry; brothers, Norman, Russell, Orville and Maurice Webster; and sister, Stella Hawks. Service at noon Friday, Feb. 8, at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, 3000 Rural St., with visitation from 10 a.m. to time of service; Pastor Charlene B. Mills will officiate. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home, 2429 W. State St.
