ALEXANDER GRIESMAN, 88 LOVES PARK - Alexander Griesman, 88, of Loves Park passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at P.A. Peterson Center for Health, Rockford. Born Aug. 20, 1925, in Saint Croix Falls, Wis., son of Henry and Katherine (Schleicher) Griesman. Graduated from Saint Croix Falls High School, Class of 1943, and University of Wisconsin, Class of 1950. Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. Married Jeanette Ellen Mayer on May 9, 1953, in Leaf River. Lived 58 years in Loves Park. Employed by Metal Cutting Tools for 30 years. Member of Grace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed all sports and outdoor activities, particularly his Packers. An avid golfer, masterfully scored a hole-in-one highlight. Survivors include sons, Steven (Susan) of Rockford, James (Rebecca) of Davenport, Iowa, and Thomas (Margo) Griesman of Burlington, Wis.; grandchildren, Mark, Katie, Ethan, Andrea and Andrew (Radonna) Griesman and Sarah (Michael) Lindholm; great-granddaughter, Andora Lee Griesman; plus several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife; parents; brothers, John and Henry Griesman; and sisters, Kate Guettler and Emily Hopkins. The family would like to thank the staff at P.A. Peterson and Serenity Hospice for their excellent care. A tremendous debt of gratitude to Dr. Juliette Kalweit and Cathy Gentz of the Swedish American Palliative Care Team for their exceptional care and devotion to both of our parents. Also, to social worker, Kate Nash, for unbelievable help in getting mom and dad together one last time. You were an incredible blessing to us and we thank you. Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Grace Lutheran Church, 343 Grand Ave., with visitation from 9 a.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials to or .
