ALLAN WILLIAM YOUNG, 79 BELOIT, Wis. - Allan William Young, 79, passed away on October 8th, 2013. Born and raised in Beloit, Wisconsin, Allan was the second son of Alice and Miles Young. He graduated from Beloit High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War in Military Intelligence as a cartographer in Korea, and then graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After a teaching assignment in Colorado, he moved back and became a history teacher at Rockford's East High School until his retirement. A longtime member of Beloit's First Presbyterian Church, his hobbies included the American Civil War and antique firearms, and he was a member of the Beloit Rifle Club. He is survived by his nephew, Robert Miles Young of Ellicott City, MD; and his niece, Susan Young Kneale of El Cajon, CA. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, beginning at 11 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery Beloit, WI. Pastor Bruce Main will officiate.
