CHARLES J. BANDY SR., 88 MACHESNEY PARK - Charles J. Bandy, Sr., 88, of Machesney Park passed away with the Lord Friday, Aug. 23, 2013. Born June 15, 1925, in Bono, AR, son of Charley P. and Mazie (King) Bandy. Veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Married Kathryn O. Brown on Oct. 12, 1946, in Sedwich, AK. Employed by Borg-Warner for 23 years, retiring in 1985. Charles was an avid baseball fan and loved fishing and traveling. Survivors include wife, Kathryn of Machesney Park; daughters, Karan Cattage of Huntsville, AL, Peggy (Jerry) Lingel of Byron, Carol (Edward) Booth, of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren, Penney (Lynn) Leslie, Jacqueline Twitty, Ronny and Candi Cattage, Dewana and Corey Mangruem, Angela and James Johnsen, Gene and Edward Booth, Charles Bandy III and Angela Dodd; 25 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother, William Bandy; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by son, Charles J. Bandy II; daughter, Diane Mangruem; grandsons, Teddy Cattage and Eric Johnsen; great-great-grandson, Corey Cattage; sister, Margaret Holland. Service at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, at FirstBorn Ministries, 8213 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, with visitation from 12:30 p.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
