EDWARD J. 'BUZZ' JOHNSON JR., 91 SOUTH BELOIT - Edward J. "Buzz" Johnson Jr., 91, of South Beloit, IL died Thursday, April 3, 2014, in his home. He was born August 15, 1922, in Winnebago County, IL; the son of Edward J. and Gertrude May (Enery) Johnson Sr. Buzz was a WWII veteran, serving in the United States Army, with the 10th Armor Division, from 1940 until 1945. He married Delores M. Jero on January 1, 1944, in Beloit, WI. She predeceased him on January 10, 2003. Ed was formerly employed by Fairbanks Morse, Beloit, WI, as a lathe operator for 47 years, retiring in 1987. He also worked part-time for 8 years at the Butterfly Club. Buzz was a member of the Fairbanks Quarter Century Club and Hope Evangelical Free Church. Survivors include his children, Judy Erickson (Jerry) Evan of Boyceville, WI and James (Gail) Johnson of Rockton, IL; grandchildren, Tim Erickson, Kimberly Erickson, Tom Erickson, Dawn Johnson, Jenica Ziese, and Heather Moore; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, three brothers, Les, LeRoy and Thomas Johnson and four sisters, Violet "Tuttie" Edzon, Gertrude Lanning, Edna Gavney and Lillian Engleson. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Hope Free Evangelical Church, 5656 Elevator Road, Roscoe, IL 61073, with Pastor Kevin Dick officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd. Beloit, WI. Visitation also from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday in the church. Online condolences may be sent to the family at daleymurphywisch.com.
