EDWIN LOUIS SILLIMAN JR. (BUTCH) LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Edwin Louis Silliman, Jr. (Butch) born August 22, 1938 Louisville, Kentucky, died July 2, 2014, Santa Maria, California. Son of Edwin Louis Silliman, Sr. and Mildred Wilson Silliman. Pre-deceased by parents and brother Michael Wayne Silliman. Graduate of Flaget high school '56, University of Notre Dame '60 and Purdue University. Ed was NROTC at Notre Dame and served three years active duty on the USS Vernon County in Japan and the USS Iwo Jima when it transited the canal on the way to Gitmo. He finished 20 years in the Navy Reserve. He was active in the Notre Dame Alumni Association, was past president of the San Jose Club which named him Man of the Year, and a member of the Orange County Club. Ed was proud to be a founding member of Christmas in April, Silicon Valley today called Rebuilding Together. His business career centered mostly in Silicon Valley and the LA area. He was a member of the Financial Executives Institute. Ed is survived by his wife, Anne Rosaire Hamilton of Santa Maria; and sister-in-law, Jeanie Kessler; nieces, Gina Philpott, her children Peyton, Blake, and Hailey; also niece, Kelly Silliman and children Tayler and Kayden all of Louisville. He is also survived by long time friends Reverend Jim Anderson, Santa Maria and Dennert and Suzanne Ware of Texas and their five children, Ed's god-children, Liz, D.J., Kathy, Sarah, and Mark. In addition, Ed had five special nieces Carlene, Cathie and Christina Ramus, Carrie Hamilton and Chrissy Svab. Ed recently fulfilled the "last thing on his bucket list" with a two and a half month trip through the canal and to Antarctica. Gratitude is extended by Anne and Ed to the Santa Maria Paramedics Station #1, also Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital, Santa Barbara especially the Keck Center and therapy pool, and also to the caring staff at Villa Maria. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 2, Rest Haven Memorial Cemetery, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville followed by lunch at Fiesta Mexicana 4507 Bardstown Rd. A Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, August 10 at St. Anne Chapel, Alpine Rd., Rockford, Illinois. Brunch following.
