Born September 9, 1943, in the southeast second-story bedroom of his grandfather's home on 11th St. in Rochelle, Ill. He grew up on a black angus farm on the edge of Steward, Ill. where he developed a strong interest in all of nature. He gra-duated from Rochelle Township High School.
