GEORGIA DELORES FELKER ROCKFORD - Georgia Delores "Dee" Felker fought a courageous battle with cancer for 12 years, yet she maintained a resilient spirit and always lived life to the fullest. On Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Serenity Home in Oregon, she went to be with the Lord. She was born Jan. 23, 1943, in Mauston, Wis., daughter of Orvis and Pearl (Durham) Myers and was united in marriage to Robert Felker on Aug. 18, 1979. Dee attended Pillsbury Baptist Bible College and the University of Minnesota. Dee was formerly employed at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, and as a nutritionist in both the WIC Program, through the University of Minnesota and at MELD. Dee was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. Dee loved genealogy, crocheting, gardening and painting. She was an excellent cook. She was also a member of Temple Baptist Church and participated in a small group at Heartland Community Church. Survived by husband, Bob; children, Sam Felker of Rockford, Sarah (Jacob) Zaske of New York, N.Y., and Suzie (Mark) Hester of Rockford; grandchildren, Caleb Zaske and Claire Hester; sister, Una Doering of LaCrosse, Wis.; father- and mother-in law, Bob and Sue Felker of Rochelle; brother-in-law, Bill (Janell) Felker of Crystal, Minn.; sister-in-law, Barb (Ray) Reineck of Rochelle; second mother, Mabel Mooney of Ruby, Mich.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by parents; infant sister, Cynthia Ann; sister, Josephine (Rich) Schalin; second father, Pastor Lloyd Mooney; and brother-in-law, Don Doering. A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at Temple Baptist Church, 3215 E. State St., Rockford, with an additional hour of visitation from 9 a.m. until service time. Co-officiants will be the Rev. Dr. Bill Patterson, Pastor Jacob Zaske and Pastor Jim Harness. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dee's family. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Mount Morris. Grace Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
