HAROLD WAYNE SHERWOOD, 66 DOTING HUSBAND, PROUD FATHER AND GRANDFATHER MACHESNEY PARK - Harold Wayne Sherwood, 66, of Machesney Park passed away suddenly Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013. Born Dec. 29, 1946, in Amarillo, Texas, son of John W. and Anna (Wynan) Sherwood. Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1964 to 1967. Married Sharon K. Bailey on Sept. 16, 1967, in Rockford. Employed by Rockford Powertrain for 30 years, retiring in 1996. He continued to work doing consulting for a number of companies in and around the state of Illinois. Wayne, as he was known to family and friends enjoyed many things in life. He loved to golf and cook and you could always count on him to have a good book handy as he was an avid reader. He loved his family and was a very proud husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include sons, Steven, Michael and Robert (Michele) Sherwood; grandchildren, Ashley, Catie, John, Macy and Luke; brother, David (Bev) Sherwood; sister, Sheila Wishop; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; his loving wife, Sharon; and brother, Robert. As per his request, private service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
