JANIS V. (ALPAUGH) MONACO HILBERT, 84 ROCKFORD - Janis V. (Alpaugh) Monaco Hilbert, 84, of Rockford, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, in her home after a 24 year battle with ovarian cancer. Born July 1, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Charles H. and Doris (Elkeberry) Alpaugh. Jan attended Corham High School in Fayette, Ohio and was very proud to receive her GED with her youngest son at Rock Valley College. She married George Hilbert on Feb. 14, 1984, in Lake Geneva, Wis.; he predeceased her Sept. 16, 1990. Jan worked as a waitress for many years at local restaurants and was an apartment manager. She was a member of VFW #5149 Ross Pearson since 1958, Lake Geneva Women's Club, Moose Club of Harvard, Ill., Eagles Club, and Teamsters Retirees for several years. Jan enjoyed playing euchre, salsa, and ballroom dancing. She is survived by her children, Merlene (Donato) Hernandez; Lana Jo (Don McAnelly) Belmontes, both of Rockford, Debra (Tobin Uhren) Stahl of Marengo, Ill., and Joseph Monaco of Davis Junction, Ill.; step-daughter, Mary (Joe) Kater of Weaverville, N.C.; grandchildren, Kimberly Stahl, Chuck (Kim) Stahl, Leslie (William) Hunnell, Heather (David) Rundall, Natasha (Antonio Crutcher) Padron, and Tiera, Samantha, Danny, and Dominic Monaco; great-grandchildren, Alexander, Donovan, Alexandra, Autumn, Garrett, Savannah, Isabel, Antonia, and Mariah; two great-great-grandchildren; very special companion, Elmer Krenz of Davis Junction, Ill. ; previous husband, Murhl Stahl; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; husbands, Richard Monaco and George Hilbert; son, Charles Stahl; sisters, Wilma Lee and Vivian Hixson; and brothers, Dale and Loren Alpaugh. The family wishes to thank Dr. Einhorn and Terry at Swedish American Cancer Center, and Heartland Hospice, especially her nurse, Horace. Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, in Olson Funeral and Cremation Services, Ltd., Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., with Pastor Paul Couleur of Country Covenant Church, Campton Hills, Ill. officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. in Fred C. Olson Chapel, and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Friday in Fred C. Olson Chapel. Memorials to , 4312 E.
